Enough of troublesome dust — clean spreading with Carbonate Lime

Traditional oxide lime and limestone meals can turn liming into a battle with a cloud of dust. Some of the material flies off with the wind, the dose is spread unevenly, and the operator works in difficult conditions. The even granule of Bluebird Carbonate Lime solves this problem at source — it spreads cleanly, evenly and predictably.

Why dust is a real loss

  • Loss of material — fine dust rises and settles outside the field; you pay for lime that never reaches the soil.
  • Uneven dose — dusty products spread inconsistently, creating over-limed and under-limed spots.
  • Discomfort and time — working in dust requires shielding, more frequent machine cleaning and narrows the weather window for spreading.

3–6 mm granule — precision instead of a cloud

Bluebird Carbonate Lime comes as a dust-free, even granule with a 3–6 mm fraction and high mechanical resistance. The granules do not crumble during transport or as they pass through the spreader, so the entire dose lands exactly where it should.

  • Zero dust during loading and spreading — comfortable work and fewer losses.
  • Wide, even work with a disc spreader (up to 36 m) with a stable granule flight path.
  • The ability to dose precisely and carry out corrective top-dressing liming.

How to spread to make the most of the granule

  • Spread on the surface, onto a levelled field — carbonate lime works from the top of the profile and does not require deep mixing.
  • Calibrate the spreader for the 3–6 mm fraction to achieve the full working width.
  • The best time is the post-harvest period; the safe carbonate form also allows top-dressing liming in spring.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Bluebird granule really produce no dust at all?
The granulated form is dust-free and mechanically resistant, so during normal loading and spreading virtually no dust is generated — unlike with meals and oxide lime.
Can I spread it with an ordinary fertiliser spreader?
Yes. The 3–6 mm fraction is matched to modern disc spreaders, which lets you achieve a large and even working width.
Does the lack of dust mean slower action?
No. The high reactivity of calcium carbonate means the granule effectively regulates pH, combining clean work with efficient soil deacidification.
